What a journey it's been this season. We have spent 20 episodes with the crew of the Colossus but these past few episodes have really let each character shine. This past Sunday we saw all of that development come to fruition as the 2nd part of the Season One Finale aired on Disney Channel. To say this episode was good, just doesn't do it justice. The culmination of all of last week's plot strings paid off, and then some. As always, Spoilers below so if you've yet to see the finale, please stay away at your own risk.

Last chance!
Ok, let's do this!
The story continues where we left off. The First Order just destroyed Kaz's homeworld, and several other planets as they revealed the Star Killer base to the Galaxy. Kaz is completely at a loss for words, which is a shock to many since he can't usually shut up! Anyways, Torra is trying to convince Kaz they need to keep moving if they are to rescue their friends from Commander Pyre and Agent Tierny. He realizes there is no time to grieve yet and agrees to carry on. He and Torra are sneaking around the floors and come across the holding cell where Captain Doza and Yaeger are being held.
A brief exchange regarding Kaz's lost parents takes place but that's all they can afford because there are more pressing matters at hand. Storm Troopers are heard coming to their location so they hide in the cell, and use it to their advantage when they notice the cell was open. They ambush them, knocking them out and take their weapons. They hatch a scheme to take back the Colossus as Captain Doza goes his separate way, to keep his people safe. Torra, Kaz, and CB-23, along with the help of Neeku, begin to flush out the First Order from the station by flooding the corridors and expelling them out when they re-pressurize the floors, like in the last episode.
Cue, silly cartoon-like exchanges between Torra, Kaz, and the Troopers before they successfully send the last remaining few out. The only ones left to deal with are the ones where Tam is located. Kaz wants to show Tam he isn't giving up, even though she may not be so kind to him next time they meet. Tierny has been filling her head with half-truths about Kaz and Yaeger. Unfortunately, for them, those might have been enough to successfully drive them apart.

Meanwhile, Neeku is working on getting the Colossus to fly again. Captai Doza knew it had the capability and states it's not been flown in over 20 years. However, never one to be down about anything, Neeku continues to work on it and the rest of the gang head-out to go and rescue Tam. They eventually run into her and Tierny, along with Pyre, about to board a ship. Kaz makes himself known and tries to convince Tam they're her family and want to help her.
She is reluctant to believe anything he says and Yaeger confirms their intent as he shows up. She says how can she ever trust them if they've done nothing but lie to her. Knowing that is true, Yaeger says all he ever wanted to do was protect her. She says he was like a father to her but she wants to be far away from the Colossus and them as she may never trust them again. So she chooses to leave with Tierny and Pyre as a battle ensues.

So a battle begins, as they attempt to run from Storm Troopers, a sequence of CB-23 taking them out and making them slip on oil is done as a way to lighten the mood of a very serious situation. As this is unfolding, Neeku has successfully gotten the Colossus to take flight. It is slowly ascending and they need to get back to the bays to try and fight off the First Order fleet that is now baring down on the Colossus. They free the Aces and a dogfight begins, one with Yaeger taking place. Kaz is happy Yaeger is once again piloting and so is he except he wishes the circumstances were better.
As it seems they are about to lose to the order Aunt Z comes from out of nowhere to help in the fight. Then Kaz and Yaeger are being chased by the Red Interceptor and just as it looks like they've met their end, Synara and the other pirates come to the rescue as well. This entire dogfight was top-notch! Not only did they play the unexpected help from Synara perfectly, they also managed to take down the Red Interceptor, proving once and for all, Kaz is a better pilot than anyone thinks. Even Yaeger manages to give kudos to Kaz, to which Kaz says he heard over the com and will never let him live it down.

Finally, there is a serene sense of accomplishment when they jump into Hyperspace. Kaz told Neeku to set the coordinates to D'Qar and they asked why. He revealed that to be the home of The Resistance and they would be safe there. Then Neeku comes out of nowhere and starts to say in his sickeningly sweet voice that he actually wasn't able to get the coordinates exact so they might be either on the outer-rim of where they need to be when they leave Hyperspace, or they could be light-years from their destination because he really didn't know. Kaz looks shocked and realizes that means they are heading to destinations unknown.
It ends with a beautiful shot of the crew staring out the bay doors at the sight in front of them. The warped space and event horizon in the distance as they are huddled together and joined in the same destiny to fight the resistance. No one knows where their journey will take them. However, they know, as long as they are together, they can accomplish anything. It's time to join the Resistance!

Only time will tell where the Colossus and crew will end up. Thankfully, we only have six months or so before Star Wars Resistance returns on Disney Channel this Fall. Until next time, Fanboys, and May the Force be with you.
Verdict: 9/10
